Don Braddy ~ Head Chef

A resident of Fort Collins since 1968, Don Braddy has been working in Fort Collins’ kitchens since the mid 70’s, including the Out of Bounds restaurant, an inspiration for Sonny Lubick Steakhouse.

Cooking his way through college, he acquired his B.A. from Colorado State, and then became the head chef of several Fort Collins restaurants including Cuisine! Cuisine!, Jay’s American Bistro, and The Crown Pub. Interestingly, in between the Crown Pub and Jay’s, Don spent about a year and a half working with Toby Sheppard in the kitchen of the Catacombs.

Promoted to general manager of the Crown Pub, Don worked in that capacity for two years, after which he left to start his own restaurant in the middle of 2000. Braddy’s Downtown Restaurant opened in the summer of 2001, and served some amazing meals to the people of Fort Collins until the fall of 2004. After closing Braddy’s, Don took a hiatus from the restaurant business for a few years in order to take a rest and develop other interests.

Now he finds himself happily behind the stove again, creating wonderful specials and making sure that the kitchen at Sonny Lubick Steakhouse is a happy, efficient and productive place, maintaining the high standards you expect from Sonny’s.
